Sangay

The Sangay is one of the most active volcanoes of Ecuador and can only be climbed combined with the Sangay trek, since the walk to and from the mountain is very long.

  • The ascent of a very active volcano. 
  • Snow capped volcano. 
  • Remote location. 
  • Wildlife such as spectacle it bear, Virginian deer, ocelot but is difficult to see them. 
Climb specifications: 
  • Moderate climb but also suitable for beginners. 
  • Accommodation in tents. 
  • Use of helmets is compulsory. 
  • Estimated climbing hours: 5 - 6h. Ascent, 3 - 4h. Descent (depending on place of lodging). 
  • Need of technical equipment.
